A strange thing happened to me this evening. While I was reclining on the bed reading a book (Goth) everything but the pages illuminated by my little light went all odd. I just read a really great short story by Charles DeLint called "The Words That Remain." It was about a ghost at an old hotel and the woman who created it. The ghost was a part of herself that she killed off long ago to meet the expectations of others. The ghost could not disappear until she was recognized by the woman.
